This week marks a special time for the PGA tour with the commencement of the FedExCup playoffs. There are 4 tournaments spread over the next 6 weeks and the winner will take home an incredible 10 millions dollars. There is a catch though - the money is placed into a retirement fund until the player turns 45. (Something nice to look forward to!)
There have been a couple small changes to the FedExCup this year to create closer competition. www.pgatour.com offers everything you need to know about the FedExCup with the standings, projections, rules and explanations. I suggest you check it out. Tiger Woods is in the number 1 place of course with 100,000 points. Kenny Perry is right behind him with 99,500. Aaron is in 45th position with 96,070 points and he is currently ranked 24th in the world.
The Barclays will be hosted this week by the Ridgewood Country Club. The defending champion is Steve Stricker who put on an awesome display last year to claim the title by 2 strokes. Stricker fired 67 on both the Thursday and Friday and then had a blistering 65 on the Saturday before closing with a 69 for the final round to finish at 16 under. K.J Choi came 2nd at 14 under par.
The course is 7,304 yards long and par is 71. The purse this week is 7 million with the winner taking home 1.26. Even better though, there is 11,000 FedExCup points up for grabs. This is going to be an exciting week and Aaron can't wait to tee up on Thursday and be a part of all the action.
GO BADDS!
