Congratulations to Sergio Garcia for his sensational win today at the Players Championship. Garcia who was last years runner up, played a great game all week and it was awesome to see him take such a special title.
Sergio has been up there all week. With the best in driving accuracy and greens in regulation, Sergio managed to drum up his A game to master his way through one of the toughest courses with unbelievable winds to put an end to his 3 year victory draught.
Garcia and Paul Goydos both finished the tournament at 5 under the card, 283. Goydos missed his putt for par on the 18th to force a play-off. Goydos and Garcia had to return to the par 3, 17th. With the green an island, this is one of the cruelest holes on tour. I felt sorry for Goydos when his tee shot missed the green and went straight into the water. Sergio hit a beautiful shot that ended up rolling right up near the hole. Sergio missed his 1st putt but then easily made par to seal the deal. A fantastic win for Sergio!
Aaron really had 1 costly round, his 3rd. He started off well with 71 and 74 on Thursday and Friday. He really found trouble on the front 9 on Saturday with 3 bogeys and a double which was really hard to recover from. Even though it was up and down for him today he managed to finish with a solid round of 72.
With 4 rounds of 71, 74, 77 and 72 Badds finished with a share for 32nd place at 6 over.
