Wow has it been tough for the guys this week! Talk about good practice for the US Open! TPC Sawgrass may be beautiful but it sure is hard. Everyone is struggling for a low score and only 15 players are below par heading into the weekend. Heavy wind is the main culprit for making things so hard and it looks to be even worse for the 3rd and 4th round. The par 3, 17th which is the most popular with the crowds is again proving to be the most difficult hole. The green is an island so if you can’t afford to hit anything but the perfect shot or it is really going to cost you. You can be having a good round and completely blow it in seconds on this hole.
Kenny Perry is the leader heading into the weekend at 6 under. He doesn’t have a lot of breathing room though with 3 players sitting on -5.
Aaron has a share for 28th place at 1 over. Although he hasn’t been completely happy with his driver, he has managed to keep any damage to a minimum and his scores down. Yesterday Badds was able to clear up 3 bogeys with 4 birdies to be one on a short list of people under par for the round. Today he found more trouble than he had hoped for but was able to finish 2 over for the day and 1 over for the tournament.
Badds will tee off tomorrow at 11:50am with Jose Maria Olazabal.
