We catch up with Aaron this week at the Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Players is hosted by the TPC Sawgrass and is one of the biggest tournaments of the year. It is known as the “5
th major” and has the richest purse on the regular tour. At 9.5 million the lucky winner will take home a sweet 1.71 million.
Phil Mickelson is the defending champion after a stunning victory last year. Play was rough and he really had to work to claim the title by 2 strokes over Sergio Garcia.
Aaron had a great start at this event last year and was in contention going into the final round. With bad weather everyone was struggling to shoot par. Badds was even after 2 rounds and then on the 3rd he fired a 67 taking him within a few shots of the lead. He found trouble though on the Sunday and ended up with a 5 over for the day which saw him finish with a share of 37th place. He is stoked to be back at Sawgrass and is looking forward to a great week.
Badds will tee off on Thursday at 8:44am from the 10th tee with Geoff Ogilvy and Daniel Chopra.
